James Smith Designs announced its first-ever participation at the London Design Festival this September. The Falmouth-based designer, James Smith, showcased his current collection of products & furniture.

The Glade Floor lamp was launched at Clerkenwell Design Week earlier this year, and at 100% Design James Smith debuted the Glade Pendant, which embraces a novel use of traditional materials and modern manufacturing techniques in order to create a unique, complex silhouette. The design makes use of hundreds of willow strands, creating light and shadow that can be found in nature.

James Smith Designs Ltd. is a consultancy specialising in Furniture Design, Product Design and Cabinet Making.   James graduated from Chippendale Furniture Making College in Edinburgh in 2003 and subsequently from Falmouth College of Arts in 2009. After college he continued to develop his craft within a variety of disciplines including a design internship at Thomas Heatherwick Studios. He founded James Smith Designs in 2011.

Working from his studio in Falmouth, the designs are batch produced or made on commission, with some standard items available to order and others designed and made to a client’s specification.
