Mineheart takes its name from the Shakespearian English words 'mine' and 'heart', meaning 'my heart'. This expresses their passion to create freely, without restraint. The company was launched in 2010 by designers Brendan Young and Vanessa Battaglia of Studiomold and Young & Battaglia. The duo is known for their playful approach to design, and innovative re- appropriation of materials and imagery. They have recently collaborated with international artists to produce pieces with wider appeal than the purely artistic.
Mineheart produces the ‘lovable collection’ of furniture, lighting, wallpaper and interior accessories. Based in Cambridgeshire, the company support British manufacturing and produce their range in England, using UK based components and suppliers wherever possible.
As a relatively new company the majority of pieces at the moment have been designed by the founders Young & Battaglia, but they are starting to collaborate with other artists such as Himitsuhana, and Chad Wys to broaden the collection.
Their newest piece is the ‘King Edison’ lamp which launched in May in New York.
Mineheart’s collection includes: King Edison Pendant Light; Portrait cushions; Wallpaper collection; Poetry plates; Wall art (canvases and leather bison heads); and Cowhide rugs.
Mineheart are exhibiting at Tent London 2013 where they will be launching larger peices of furniture.
Our design philosophy is simply to create things we love, we work more like artists than designers. We are interested in the feeling of history that old objects and antiques give us, and we try to capture something of the poetry of the things we love using new materials and techniques.
