Hand Blown Glass Lights by Curiousa & Curiousa

Esther Patterson started her professional life as a graphic designer but returned to school in Nottingham to broaden her design education, trying her hand at many disciplines simultaneously from fabric design and re-upholstery to lighting design before achieving success with a series of extraordinary glass lamps. Esther, the company founder, launched her range of hand-blown, bespoke glass lighting solutions for domestic and commercial settings at Tent 2010, and has quickly established an enviable list of clients.

Following on from gaining the prestigious ‘Elle Decoration Approval' award, Liberty London quickly signed Esther up, to retail both pendant and table lamps, whilst Harvey Nichols 5th Floor is now awash with ruby glass pendants, designed specifically for their new cafe and terrace.

Jamie Oliver's new chain of restaurants, Union Jacks, feature Curiousa and Curiousa pendants in his flagship site in Holborn, with another in Chiswick featuring a cascade of ‘acid drops', semi translucent yellow, lemon shaped lights with a glorious golden flex. And if you watch Jamie's next series of his hit TV show, 30 Minute Meals, you'll see Esther's lights adorning his studio set.

In February this year, Esther installed her largest piece to date, an impressive 9 meter tall stairwell piece in Sackville Place, a prestigious new development in Seven Oaks. Featuring 32 individual shades spiralling down from a bespoke ceiling rose - all designed, produced and installed using local skills and craftspeople and UK suppliers.

Having exported across Europe, the US, Australia, the Far East, Curiousa and Curiousa are truly establishing an international brand, working in partnership with UK and international interior design practices and commissioning architects.

Esther will be Exhbiting at TENT 2012
