Bethan Gray Wednesday 16 May 2012

G&T by Bethan Gray will debut at the Farmiloe Building during Clerkenwell Design Week this May. G&T is a newly established design collaboration between one of the UK's most celebrated and award-winning designers Bethan Gray, and respected furniture developer, Thomas Turner.

G&T focuses exclusively on using intriguing and seductive combinations of natural materials, adding exciting and elegant detail to create contemporary, yet timeless families of beautiful products. The brands design and development is focused on nurturing highly skilled and motivated manufacturers, who are passionate about their product, and take personal pride in their craftsmanship.

Bethan's long-held passion for working with the finest leathers and marbles combined Thomas Turner's extensive knowledge and expertise in this field has enabled Bethan's vision to come to fruition in the form of beautifully crafted and desirable furniture pieces for the G&T brand.
G&T will be launching a capsule collection of bespoke designs exclusively during Clerkenwell Design Week and will consist of the Carve and Brogue table.

The Carve table was borne out of the study of the traditional three-legged Cricket table, found throughout mining villages in Wales as a solution to uneven slate floors. The natural character of the generous marble provides a unique pattern to each table. When combined with a variety of wood options, this creates a product with it's own distinct story, feel and personality.

The Brogue table is a range of unique leather topped tables with solid wood bases that feature an intricate wax thread brogue finished with a hand stitched detail. Traditionally used in shoe production, brogueing is an instantly recognisable detail that resonates with G&T's passion for intricate craft based techniques. The tables are produced using high quality top grain leather, which has been treated to give a highly durable finish. As with the best upholstery, the table will age with use, creating a piece of furniture that develops it's own individual personality, thus becoming a future heirloom.
