As a market leader in enterprise application software, the design brief for SAP's tenancy in Singapore was to create a collaborative workplace that encourages interaction and connectivity between staff.
Designed by HBO+EMTB, the new office was a relocation and consolidation of SAP's three existing tenancies in Singapore to a new building in the Mapletree Business City development. The design covers 135,000sqft over four floors and involves the roll out of a more flexible, mobile and task focussed workplace.
The work floors are largely open plan although employees have the flexibility to work from almost anywhere in the office. Each floor is interconnected with an open staircase and features themed break out areas - one has a water feature, another a bamboo garden and the third a wall covered with plants.
The design encourages connectivity and openness between staff by introducing a variety of work settings. Each space has its own unique ambience by incorporating a mix of colour, materials, lighting and furniture.
The design also features a dedicated area for staff to relax and unwind. In addition to a staff café that serves up gourmet coffee, smoothies, salads and soups, there is also a gaming area complete with a pool table and a foosball table. The company was the first in Singapore to have a MetroNaps EnergyPod, which is a luxury chair that allows staff to take quick naps at work.
Similarly, the client floor is also designed to make the sales process more relaxed, interactive and fun. The design includes a client café, a variety of informal meeting spaces and an interactive pod table to showcase SAP's capabilities.
The project incorporates sustainable design principles in line with SAP's commitment to the environment. It has since been awarded with a BCA Green Mark for Office Interiors Award (Gold) accreditation.
