EHS Design completes new Hagens Berman office
This new Seattle law office is a full-floor build-out, the first in a new premium downtown building. The design is modern, transparent, and deeply functional. Working with this long-time client to determine the best location, the designer first performed a space study of two floors to determine the best fit for the client’s needs. Programming, design, build-out, and move management for an entire floor in this new downtown high-rise building followed.
The client wanted a timeless, sleek design with a neutral palette and clean lines to highlight the collection of artwork incorporated throughout. Achieving outside views from the 33rd floor was a priority for the client. Offices, corridors, and break rooms were glazed and situated to maximise sight lines to windows. The sliding glass office door system articulates openness, allows natural light to filter into interior spaces, and achieves an open, transparent feeling. This client appreciates fine detail, quality, and craftsmanship, providing the opportunity for a unique design solution.
The focal point for the space is the serpentine soffit with an internally illuminated, freeform, translucent sculpture that weaves through the office. This unique, functional art has become a signature for the client. After-hours security was a challenge solved with a carefully composed sliding gate that does not interfere with building systems. A turn-key approach was taken, and a high design standard was set for this sophisticated office build-out. The design met high expectations that were delivered to rave reviews, setting the standard for this newly constructed Class A office building.
