Beijing's new luxury retail mall opens its doors to the public
The prestige of Beijing’s newest 60,000m2 brand mall is marked by the quality of its international retailers, including Louis Vuitton, Dior and Lane Crawford’s flagship stores.
Seasons Place forms the heart of the new finance district Beijing Finance Street, an impressive mix of business, finance, residential and entertainment components. The project is conceived as a ‘high end’ lifestyle destination mall with the world’s best international brands on a grand scale.
The design is inspired by the heritage of traditional Chinese landscape paintings in the most modern and abstract way. The interior environment is a sinuous brush stroke of textured limestone surfaces, accented with trees, landscape terraces and cascades. Graphic leaf icons are sensitively etched on stone and glass surfaces including the Chinese Maple, Bamboo, Gingko and Oak. The night illumination is dramatic, using LED color change lighting technology projected on the vast skylight structure as a palette for changing moods and ambiance. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill’s (SOM) softly curved architecture supports one of China’s largest spanning skylights bathing the entire interior with natural daylight. There is a breathtaking sense of interior space, with 4 levels of serpentine landscape terraces.
