Natural Retreats John O'Groats
Saturday 15 Jun 2013
Interiors and branding studio NoChintz have enjoyed a two-year-long working relationship with key client, and luxury self-catering experts, Natural Retreats which has seen them provide design direction and full Interior design support to the company.
To date, NoChintz has completed work at two major projects on behalf of this client working on the interior design of luxury ecolodges in the Yorkshire Dales site and at the Natural Retreats headline project in John O'Groats, Scotland under which NoChintz was tasked with:
- Designing the interiors for 23 stand-alone three bedroom residences
- The refurbishment of their extended John O’Groats Inn
- The design of an Outfitters activity centre and retail space
- The design of the Storehouse co-operative restaurant and shop.
The 23 Residences at this scheme were completed in August 2012 and were designed in the same style as those at the Yorkshire Dales site. With a commitment to locally sourcing design talent, NoChintz provided an interiors solution there which would retain a heavy emphasis on British style with British pieces used - especially from manufacturers in Scotland. Stars such as Naughtone, Another Country, &Then Design, Anta, Original BTC, Pottinger and Cole and Davey lighting as well as a number of smaller brands producing specially commissioned and bespokely designed pieces make up the collection. British brand Dualitt is featured throughout the kitchen and Steellite, made in Stoke-on-trent, provides the full crockery collection. Anorak punctuates the offering with some wonderful coasters, place mats and children’s items.
NoChintz is now focussing on completing the next phase at the John O'Groats site - a standalone inn which will complete later in the summer. They have also further extended their relationship with the client and have been appointed to undertake similar work on a programme of projects in the USA, starting with a show home in Virginia Warm Springs. It will be NoChintz's first foray across the Atlantic.
