New Chapter For Iconic Blakes Hotel
Anouska Hempel, backed by a consortium of investors, has re-purchased Blakes Hotel and will shortly unveil a two-year programme of complete refurbishment.
"Blakes is widely recognised as the forerunner to the luxury ‘boutique hotel' concept and we are looking forward to restoring it to its former glory" said a spokesperson for Blakes Hotel.
The iconic hotel, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, exudes fine living with a sense of theatre and panache. Renowned for its discreet unobtrusive service and comfort, the hotel continues to attract leading celebrities, businesspeople, royalty, models and musicians from the around the world.
The refurbishment programme, which will include the addition of a gym and an extended restaurant, will refresh and reinvigorate the Blakes concept. Carefully chosen and executed with Anouska Hempel's exacting vision, the design will offer a seductive global exploration through India, Thailand, China, Jakarta, Cambodia, Egypt and Italy. The luxurious, bohemian ambience will combine light and dark, past and present, with intrigue and drama.
The hotel features an abundant luxury of eclectic, ethnic accessories, furniture and artifacts found personally by Hempel from all over the world, during her travels. The guest rooms are decorated in deep rich tones that are often paired for subtle contrasts. The compositions are dramatic, yet luxurious.
