A hundred and fifty years young, The Princess of Wales Pub in leafy Primrose Hill has recently been lovingly renovated by Space Design Studios.
The aim was to help this famous pub create a new exciting brand, a new interior and exterior including a new bespoke bar, open theatre kitchen and upstairs dining, which could be used for private dining and parties.
Space Design Studios were asked to create a design that represents the traditional values of the pub but inject it with a modern twist. The ground floor revolves around the action of the central island bar where the kitchen is also a big focus with the viewing windows showcasing modern British food. What makes this concept work so well is the detail and fresh decorative finishes. The carefully chosen colour palette represented in luxuriant wall coverings and paint finishes.
You will find many on off and quirky elements as you move through the pub. The light fittings were carefully chosen / design and manufactured to a high spec. One to look out for when visiting the Princess of Wales is the two meter wide chandelier covered in a mosaic of beautiful, vibrant fabrics.
No two pieces of furniture in the pub are similar. Each chair, table, bench has its own personality within the array of exciting fabrics. Space Design Studios have even carried the pub design in to the toilets: - you feel like royalty whilst using the bathrooms in the Princess of Wales!
The interior design is represented in the exterior two - through the signage, traditional awnings and the vibrant hedging. Now you can really feel the identity and the individuality of the space. The bar - unlike no other really is a beautiful and functional element and the show kitchen really brings the excitement factor.
The upstairs dining area really is a unique asset - perfect for a party or private event. Space design studios have achieved what they initially set out to design - a traditional pub with a quirky, modern twist.
