ALDO STORE, HONG KONG
Friday 15 Jun 2012
Pompei A.D., a full service creative branding and design firm, completed the design of the new ALDO store scheduled to open in the IFC Mall in Hong Kong in May.
Pompei A.D. was approached by the ALDO Group to create a unique concept store for the IFC Mall that would complement the aesthetics of the surrounding setting, while maintaining the footwear and accessories company's roots with a fashion-forward, youthful and fun customer base.
"The design was based around two distinct elements, the first being a continuous mirror polished metal ‘ribbon' that winds throughout the store, unifying the display as one cohesive, visual element. In contrast to this horizon, original ‘Constellation' artwork created by Pompei A.D. produces the sensation that the space is not defined by four walls, but rather is an ethereal environment in which the ALDO experience comes to life," states Scott Faucheux, Executive Director of Design at Pompei A.D.
The luxurious IFC Mall features contemporary architectural in-mall designs, and a diverse tenant mix of more than 100 international brands including cutting-edge flagship and new concept stores. It is situated within the International Finance Centre, a new commercial development on the waterfront of Hong Kong's Central District, which also includes the 55-story Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong as well as the eighth tallest office building in the world.
"As an internationally-recognised, iconic fashion location we wanted to treat its design with a singular approach." states Aldo Bensadoun, ALDO Group Executive Chairman. "Pompei A.D. succeeded in matching the store design to the unique aesthetic of the location, while continuing to maintain the brand integrity for which ALDO is known."
