Farmshop strives to honour the farmers and artisans who provide the cheese, bread, meat, fruit, vegetables and preserves that grace our tables daily. Combining restaurant with marketplace, owners Jeff Cerciello and Kira Cunningham provide their guests with ever-changing seasonal goods sourced both locally in California and beyond.
Following the success of their first restaurant based in Santa Monica, they have just established a second in Marin County. For this project they collaborated with design studio Commune, who also worked on the first eatery, to create chic and elegant interiors with flair that entice customers in, and make them want to stay with a homely and welcoming atmosphere.
The overall palette of the place is decidedly neutral, including polished concrete floors, wooden fixtures and furnishings and walls painted in natural tones. The designers have layered on top of this in many ways, for example giving contrast by using bright green Heath ceramics tiles on feature walls, emerald green textiles on seating booths and using a large agricultural photographic mural by photographer Pirkle Jones in the restaurant area. Other stand out features are the lighting fixtures on ropes and chains and the eye-catching hearth, prominently on display in the open kitchen.
This is a project that has it all: refined and timeless aesthetics, inimitable style, warmth, comfort and memorable quirks. Add this to a remarkable menu and ethical produce and you've got yourself a winning mix.
