Upper East Side NYC Apartment
Monday 18 Nov 2013
An elegant, spacious apartment designed by Dee Dee Eustace, designed in six weeks, featuring ten-foot ceilings and three working fireplaces in the heart of Manhattan. The apartment boats excellent views across the Upper East Side, with Central Park nearby, whilst the bedrooms on the second floor of the apartment face a quiet, leafy courtyard.
The existing white walls provided a neutral backdrop for Eustace's characteristic timeless aesthetic, a canvas upon which she could style the project with simple sophistication. The concept was to lend a cosy feel to this large-scale entertainment space, ensuring it remained chic yet comfortable.
Filled with a mix of new furniture (much of it designed and fabricated by Eustace), and collectible antiques, the apartment is a mix of contemporary and traditional.
The dining room features black-lacquered pieces, set against soft grey furniture and accents. In the spacious living room, Eustace has brought colourful and unique accessories together to coexist, including family heirlooms, vintage pieces, an eclectic art collection, bright textile accents, and decor pieces from a neighborhood shop, Madura. Much of the lighting throughout the apartment comes from clear-glass chandeliers.
Upstairs in the master bedroom, the theme of grey and pearl with black-lacquer accents is carried throughout with custom-pieces, whilst in the smaller bedroom there are colorful pillows, throws and bright accessories, making it more appealing to Eustace's teenage daughter.
