Katharine Pooley Limited was commissioned to re-design the interior of this extensive 4 bedroom private villa in Doha for a young family.

KPL created a remarkable entrance to the client’s home by installing a bespoke chandelier that cascades through the centre of a show-stopping solid brass and glass balustrade. The balustrade has an art deco geometric design is re-interpreted throughout house, including four impressive wall lights that encase the entrance hall columns. Bespoke doors with bronze detailing were designed bespoke and manufactured by some of the most established and respected joinery companies with in the UK.

Entertainment space was a priority for the client and accordingly KPL created spectacular entertainment spaces for the client and their extensive family and friends to relax in. These spaces include the Moroccan room, designed as a female zone in the home. All finishes in the room were carried out by local craftsmen with gold leaf applied to ceiling adding richness and depth to the scheme. Clusters of lanterns and the main pendant light were designed especially for the space and hung at a low level to create cast fantastic shadows on the stucco walls, adding an element of drama to the room. Verre Eglomise doors give a little privacy when needed, but allow the glow from the lanterns to be visible from the entrance hallway, inviting you into the space.

An extensive games room was created as the male entertainment room, complete with bespoke billiards table with a shagreen base and ebonised timber to match the joinery in the room. Music was an important element for the client and a high spec Wurlitzer jukebox was installed in the space and cleverly conceals a discreet iPod dock. Lastly, the room also houses a bespoke bar with a Rose Aurora marble top which has deep red veining, and antique mirror on the side to add richness to the design.

Closely interpreting the client brief, KPL created individual bedrooms and playroom areas tailored to their personalities and interests where the children can play and relax. Opulent textures such as beautiful solid rose woods and silver stained velum with nickel accents in the master bedroom and dressing room offer the client an area to retreat from their demanding international schedules.

The exquisite attention to the detail can be seen in from the beautiful embroidery on the curtains and sofas panels to the bespoke billiards table cladded in shagreen to match the joinery cladded doors. All silk carpets were designed to complement each scheme and are a perfect backdrop for the bespoke furniture that Katharine commissioned to be manufactured by her elite makers worldwide.
