DYNAMIK planned, designed and constructed the new global corporate headquarters of BlackRapid Inc. Moving from a 2,500 sq ft space to a 25,000 sq ft facility; BlackRapid is notably one of the fastest growing companies around Seattle and was named in Inc. Magazine's 500 Fastest Growing Small Businesses list and is a premier camera accessory brand. The company's revenues have grown 1,281 percent in the past 3 years, placing them 2nd among companies headquartered in Seattle (5th in the Puget Sound), number 23 in the Consumer Products and Services category and 285 overall among U.S. companies. BlackRapid's products are distributed in over 50 countries.

The DYNAMIK team approached the project's diverse programming with careful consideration of both the client's personality as well as the characteristics that define Seattle as a tech savvy, environmentally conscious city. The BlackRapid culture values innovative, alternative and impromptu interactions. They were looking for a collaborative space requiring a mixture of uses that inspire creativity and allows employees to feel relaxed and entertained.

DYNAMIK responded with a design that is flexible and informal, communicating a final environment that encourages co-working and renders public and private spaces interchangeable. Transforming a tired warehouse into an innovative, creative workspace, the new BlackRapid headquarters accommodates a global photography workshop, podcast multi-media room, private offices, "lounge" rooms, a café, open multi-use creative spaces and a shipping/receiving facility that is easily accessible while remaining private. Employees are encouraged to bring their dogs to the office, play a game of foosball and have a beer from the taps in the BlackRapid Café. This laid back vibe continues to be incorporated throughout the space by implementing skateboards into handrails and bicycles into conference tables. The blending of these aspects makes the workplace more familiar and more approachable.

The exterior black building is striking with a simple white vinyl "BlackRapid" printed on the door.  Yellow drop pendants and a view into the wonderful new yellow banded and reclaimed wood focal wall add a sense of surprise to the entry.

Focusing on sustainable and re-claimed materials, LED lighting, and capitalizing on the reuse of existing elements like the building's wooden beams which were hidden, the start-up turned multi-million dollar company now has a home base that can keep up with their demand and their love for photographic learning.
