The new Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Kowloon East, a collaboration between The Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) and developers Sun Hung Kai, is a 359 room, five star hotel located above Popcorn Shopping Centre and near Shaw Studios and TVB City in Tseungkwano. The hotel offers King and Double Rooms with Garden, Executive and Deluxe Suites.

F+B options include The Lobby Lounge for drinks and light meals, The Chef’s Table, an all day dining buffet restaurant and the Tze Yuet Heen Cantonese restaurant. The Fitness Centre features a gymnasium and Sense of Touch spa with seven private treatment suites. The hotel has one of Hong Kong’s largest, most well equipped ballrooms, capable of accommodating 1,000 guests. The Crowne Plaza Hotel brand is young and one that celebrates vivid colours with a rich palette of textures and finishes. Its youthful ambiance also serves well the immediate business communities, focused as they are on the television and film industries. A new generation of tourists from mainland China has, within the last decade, discovered the territory of Hong Kong and the hotel draws much of its clientele from the newly affluent younger generation north of the border, less than 30 minutes away.

The hotel offers special facilities for weddings with the largest hotel ballroom in Hong Kong. The lobby lounge has a feature spiral staircase swooping down for those all-important wedding photographs. It even boasts a dedicated lift for the bridal pair to arrive directly at the ballroom pre-function areas as if by magic from the rooftop marriage ceremony garden. All of these influences were major driving forces in the development of the design: the Crowne Plaza brand and the target clientele of wedding parties, the local media industry and the influx of mainland Chinese tourists.

The areas within the scope of the interior design include the lobby lounge and reception, 359 rooms and suites, with on floor lobbies and circulation, Chinese restaurant, all-day dining, ballroom, pre-function areas, business and private dining function rooms, health centre and spa, wedding sales office as well as washrooms and lift car interiors. The total area of public spaces is 62,593 sq ft while the total area of the 359 guest rooms is 162,593 sq ft. The hotel opened in October 2012.
