a monthly round-up of the world's best interiors and design stories
Award-winning Welsh designer, based in London, Bethan Gray combines a passion for luxurious natural materials - leather, marble and solid wood - with an extensive knowledge of craftsmanship and cutting- edge manufacturing technologies.
Her warm and contemporary design reflects her personal history, strongly rooted to traditional Welsh culture and craft and inspired from everyday items that surround us all, to objects and buildings discovered whilst travelling the globe.
After 10 years at Habitat, Bethan left and established her eponymous studio in 2008, to broaden her client base and work with luxury natural materials. She now works in collaboration with leading manufacturers and retailers globally.
Her boutique collection of occasional tables G&T is stocked in many of the leading design stores globally. Exploring her love of stone, she has recently collaborated on a marble table top range with Wallpaper* Handmade and launched a range of marble dining tables for high-end stone specialist Lapicida, including the stunning Herringbone and All Marble Brogue tables.
Welsh born Bethan Gray is best known for her liveable, honest, and warm designs. She first came into recognition when she was awarded the Habitat Innovation Award by Tom Dixon at New Designers in 1998. Working closely with Matthew Hilton during his residence at Habitat, Bethan was made Head of Furniture Design before embarking on setting up her own studio in 2008.
