a monthly round-up of the world's best interiors and design stories
Handmade furniture in old pinewood recycled from the Harbor of Reykavik which was contructed between 1913 and 1917.
Johann got the idea to design furniture when he built a bed in 2011 for himself. As a result, he received inquiries about the bed and built another on request.
Last year, Johann learnt that the Associated Icelandic Port was intending to reconstruct the Reykjavik Harbor and was taking old wood from the demolition. He had the idea to use the wood for his furniture.
The armchair is made of solid wood, oil varnished, with blood red leather cushions. It has a rounded wooden back and the arms extend together forming a semi-circle.
The product is also available with dark green leather cushions.
Johann's furniture is handcrafted in limited stock and each item is intended as a collectible piece.
