a monthly round-up of the world's best interiors and design stories
Renowned glassmaker Peter Layton's latest series of statement vessels arrives at London Glassblowing just in time for Christmas. Inspired by the opposing forces of fire and ice, ‘Red Glacier' is an exciting and dynamic collection of free form pieces guaranteed to delight.
‘Fire and ice are recurring themes for me,' Peter says ‘and with Red Glacier I was looking to capture some of the extraordinary volcanic energy we witnessed with the Icelandic eruptions. Lit from above, these pieces emit an incredible, fiery glow.'
Each of these beautifully fluid forms is unique and has been signed by the artist, so with studio art glass fast becoming seriously collectable, buying a Red Glacier vessel would be a wise investment as well as an aesthetic pleasure. Prices range from £690 - £2,800.
The Red Glacier collection is available from Peter Layton's London Glassblowing Studio and Gallery, 62-66 Bermondsey Street, London SE1 3UD. Open Monday-Saturday, 10am-6pm. Additional openings during Christmas Open Studio: Sunday 25th November and Sunday 2nd December 2012.
