a monthly round-up of the world's best interiors and design stories
Ben Rawlinson offers contemporary furniture pieces in his range of tables called 'Acute', developed with the domestic interior/high end retail market in mind. 'Acute' consists of three pieces (side table, coffee table and bedside table) which each share the design characteristics of veneered angled panels with twin coloured pin stripes running around the edges. This range will be on show at Top Drawer Autumn this September.
The square set Helios coffee table is a one off design not necessarily part of a range. Constructed of Elm and Ash it's a development piece designed to show the dramatic effects of the twist, one of the forms that wood takes naturally but is rarely seen in a product made of wood. The interlocking stretchers under the table are exposed by the glass allowing the twists to be appreciated from all viewpoints simultaneously.
Ben Rawlinson creates unique pieces of hand crafted furniture from his Black Dog Studio in Waltham Abbey, Essex.
