a monthly round-up of the world's best interiors and design stories
Dishy is a dynamic seating and sofa system designed by David Fox produced in the UK under license by Ocee Design.
Its source of inspiration and name derives from the well-balanced square shapes of contemporary tableware. The furniture is extended and extruded to form an encapsulating seating shape which pushes the limits of plywood technology. A delicate body and surround harbouring organically shaped soft cushioning maximises the aesthetic offering a hard, yet cocooning, comforting shape. Low or high backed options offer product variance and the choice of sitting or lounging.
Innovatively the three products in the range utilise one tooling investment, reducing development costs. Dishy is offered in a multitude of fabric and leather options, complimented with either a tubular steel four legged, or swivel option frame, and the design is suited to either a contract or domestic environment.
David Fox commented: “Good design should be available to all walks of life. As much labour has gone into the design of the product, as to the sourcing of the materials, ensuring the product is cost effective and suitable for today’s economic climate; all componentry has been lovingly selected using the pedigree of UK supply.”
