Crank up, crank down. Pull up a chair. Arielle asks to be played with.
A hand-crank raises and lowers the tabletop within seconds. Perfect for lounging, working and everything in between. When placed between two lounge chairs, Arielle effectively becomes an occasional table great for cocktail hour or resting your feet.
Joyce Wang spent a lot of time thinking about hospitality furniture for today's hotel guests. Not only did they want to satisfy their functional needs, they wanted to create a piece that was interactive and playful.
The solid teak wood tabletop and grill body is finished off with a clear coat lacquer. Powder-coated in neon orange, a hand-crank perches on top begging you to give it a spin. The cranking mechanism of the unit was also engineered such that it can hold 50kgs of weight whilst still being able to crank up and down with ease.
WANG is a design studio based in Hong Kong, China. This one-off custom piece was designed for a hospitality client in Los Angeles in collaboration with Hun Aw and Olollo Inc.
