a monthly round-up of the world's best interiors and design stories
Incalmi's hand-made Incalmi sets are designed by Chiara Onida.
The collection includes carafe, wine glass and water glass, which produce a variety of sounds when the liquid is poured into and out of the vessels.
The colour and clear glass are produced using the Venetian technique called "Incalmo" where two elements with different colours are blown together into a single object.
Incalmi is part of The Domestic Soundscape, a collection of objects that explore the possibilities for using sound and rhythm to celebrate the small rituals involved with everyday domestic activities. The general aim is to create awareness of the emotions drawn from everyday sounds and rhythms, by offering the user unexpected sonic experiences.

Born in Turin (Italy) in 1984, Chiara graduated in July 2010 from the MA Industrial Design programme at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London. Chiara loves coffee and music and has a passion for paper and modular patterns. Chiara's design: Material culture and traditional artifacts fascinate her. She loves simple and clever solutions in systems and objects, especially the ones determined by necessity or need of adaptation. She also likes small, crafted details applied to primitive shapes.
