The brief Jaime Hayon was requested to follow for the design of Aballs was to create a straightforward lamp which imbued the spirit of the client, Parachilna: rich materials, traditional skills blended with artisanal craftsmanship and impeccable finishes. In terms of the visuals of the design, Hayon was given freedom to explore shape and form as he wished.
His solution to the brief was Aballs: a collection which includes a chandelier, hanging lamps available in three sizes and table lamps available in two sizes. Ceramics and blown glass were brought together, linked by a polished brass ring.
The chandelier showcases three versions of the lamp: golden electroplated, white or black lacquered steel structure, matching the colours of the ceramic bodies. 24 blown glass diffusers complete the fixture. The hanging and table lamps are made up of a blown glass diffuser and a white, black or golden ceramic base.
The result is a set of strongly decorative objects that produce a warm ambient light and can be used in a domestic environment as well as in contract projects.
