The WAN AWARDS Urban Design Sector is a major international competition and the fourth of our 6 bi-monthly 'Excellence in Design' series by sector for 2011. The award celebrates and promotes the best in international urban design, transport & infrastructure, attracting entries from all over the world and providing a global platform to showcase your designs.
There are two categories:
1. Completed Projects
2. Unbuilt / Design-Only Projects
Any urban design / infrastructure / transport projects , including airports, bus / train stations, parking structures, bridges, public parks, master plans, waterfront developments, utility buildings, landscapes and other public realm areas.
For the completed category, the competition is open to all urban design, transport & infrastructure projects completed on or after 1st January 2008. There is no date restriction on the ‘unbuilt’ category, and you may enter any design for the above typologies, whether your design is under construction or concept design only.
The jury will judge entries on a number of factors including originality, innovation, form and special quality, sustainability and context, but the following two areas will carry the most weighting.
1. How your design addressed the key elements of the client brief.
2. Specific examples of how your building has: evolved its specific building type, used design and / or materials to enhance the user experience or integrate with its context and / or community.
