Hanif Kara joins The Architecture Foundation’s Board of Trustees

Respected structural and civil engineer Hanif Kara is to join the AF’s Board of Trustees this year, hot on the heels of designer Jasper Conran who was appointed in April. Co-Founder and Director of Adams Kara Taylor, Hanif Kara has become known for his innovative form and choice of materials, prefabrication, sustainable construction and complex analysis methods. In 2004, Hanif became the first structural engineer to be selected for the Master Jury of the 2004 cycle of the Aga Khan Awards for Architecture – the same year that he was appointed an Honorary Fellow of the RIBA.

The AF is a non-profit agency for contemporary architecture, urbanism and culture. Director of the organisation, Sarah Ichioka, said: “It is an honour and delight to welcome Hanif Kara onto the Board of The Architecture Foundation. Hanif’s commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, his strong international links, and reputation for fostering new architectural talent are a perfect match for the Foundation’s areas of priority and expertise.”
