Results announced for National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design competition in Norway

The results of a competition to design the new National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Norway have been announced. The museum was established in 2003, after the National Gallery, National Touring Exhibitions and Museums of Decorative Arts and Design, Contemporary Art and Architecture where combined into a single museum facility. Statsbygg, the client in this large-scale project, was supplied with 237 proposals from across the globe, from which six were selected for a further submission in February this year. Winners were announced after an anonymous evaluation on 12th April, 2010.

The results are as follows:

1st prize: Kleihues & Schuwerk Architekten, Germany
2nd prize: Jaja Architects, Denmark
3rd prize: Henning Larsen Architects, Denmark

Non prize-winning submissions from the second phase:

Sleth Modernism, Denmark
Narud Stokke Wiig Arkitekter, Norway
