MIPIM Asia Award winners announced

China and Singapore dominated the third edition of the MIPIM Asia Awards, designed to recognize outstanding real estate projects in the Asia Pacific region for their innovative, technical, environmental and architectural qualities. The MIPIM Asia Awards ceremony took place yesterday at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, in the presence of The Honourable Mrs. Carrie Lam, Secretary for Development of the Government of Hong Kong SAR.

"The third MIPIM Asia Awards have proved extremely successful, with more entries submitted to the competition than ever before," said Robert Lie, president of the jury and Real Estate Investment & Development Managing Director, Redevco Asia Limited, Hong Kong. "The jury was very impressed with the high quality of the projects presented. Looking at all these entries, it becomes clear that sustainability criteria are the current dominant trend in construction and I strongly believe that this is a major and very positive evolution for the property sector. Given the outstanding quality of this year's edition, I am already looking forward to next year's MIPIM Asia Awards."

KPF proved they could pack a punch in Asia winning in four out of the ten categories, three of which were for The Shanghai World Finance Center. Featuring the world’s highest occupied floor and the highest public observatory, the 'virtual city within a city' houses a mix of offices, retail space and a Park Hyatt Hotel from the 79th-93rd floors. Occupying the tower’s uppermost floors, the Sky Arena offers aerial views of the historic Lujiazui Financial District and the winding Huangpu River below. Almost 500 metres above the city the Sky Walk on the 100th floor offers a unique view point over the city. The large retail centre around the base of the tower generates street-level activity, which will be increased by the planned public park on the site’s eastern side.
