Chetwoods forges alliance with Norwegian education specialist

Chetwoods has formed a partnership with Norwegian practice Kristin Jarmund Arkitekter to improve education design and construction services in advance of the next wave of Building Schools for the Future commissions.

Commissions are due in Derbyshire where Chetwoods is part of the Equitix consortium.

Chetwoods director, Mark Dorril, says: “We were looking for a partner and found Kristin Jarmund on the BDCSE best practice website.” Dorril has visited KJA and several of its Norwegian school projects. “Their level of innovation in the Norwegian education sector is high and it is of a type that can be transferred well to the more conservative UK market.”

The partnership will see Chetwoods act as lead architect, employing KJA as a consultant during the design process. Chetwoods will provide architectural resources for the delivery of projects.

Kristin Jarmund of KJA, says: “We are delighted to have the opportunity of collaborating with Chetwoods; a British architectural firm of high standards. We believe that our extensive experience of building new Norwegian schools will allow us to contribute with ideas and qualities that can be of interest to the development of school projects in Derbyshire.”
