Danish design firm 3XN has been announced as the winner of a design competition for the new headquarters of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Lausanne, Switzerland. The competition was posted by WAN’s Business Information Service in April 2013.
The 14,000 sq m headquarters building will be situated at a 24,000 sq m site on the banks of Lake Geneva, providing administration facilities for 450 employees. Concept designs are yet to be revealed by the design firm, with a release date to be set by the IOC.
Kim Herforth Nielsen, Principal and Creative Director of 3XN, said: “This is an incredible honour for our studio. The Olympic Movement has many expressions that are about people coming together in the best possible way. We have designed the new IOC Headquarters as a physical expression of the Olympic Movement and its values expressed through Architecture.”
