Conran and Partners appointed as lead consultants on Saltdean Lido renovation on British south coast

A major fundraising drive is now underway to raise the £5m needed to restore and modernise the UK’s only Grade II* listed lido. Located in Saltdean on the outskirts of Brighton, the Art Deco building was originally designed by R. W. H. Jones but has fallen into disrepair.

In December 2013, the Saltdean Lido Community Interest Company was granted a 60-year lease for a restoration, renovation and modernisation project, encompassing both the pool and associated building. Conran and Partners has now been appointed lead consultant on the renovation scheme.

Sir Terence Conran said: “We are delighted that we have now been formally appointed by the Saltdean Lido Community Interest Company to work with them on the important job of breathing new life into this beautiful lido. We have worked with them for over three years, drawing up ideas, creating plans and attending meetings with the council so it is great news that all of the hard work has paid off. We can’t wait to see this landmark building restored to its former glory."
