Plans to transform Malaga Airport into technology hub made public

The Center for Integrated Services for Airport Development and Strategic Impulse has announced plans to convert Malaga Airport into a hub for technology and science in a mammoth venture across 3.8 million sq m.

A fly-through published on GlobalAirportCities.com showcases a melange of new facilities including 1.7 million sq m of industrial and tertiary space, more than 1 million sq m of open green space plus 1 million sq ft of office space.

While reports state that the headquarters for the project are currently under construction, whether the full design will be seen through to realisation is still under discussion. Despite claims of 25,000 direct and 80,000 indirect new jobs generated by the development and €240m for the local economy, uptake on the project has been slow.
