‘Moved To Care’ competition seeks design for transportable medical unit

Non-profit organisation Building Trust International has announced its 5th design competition, challenging professional and student architects, engineers and designers to conceptualise a medical facility that is easily transportable. The health centre is for use in Southeast Asia where non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are prevalent; each year, 8 million people in this area alone die from NCDs.

In 2009 alone, 41 million people in Southeast Asia were infected with malaria and Building Trust International is working to provide medical care for as many people as possible. The ‘Moved To Care’ competition seeks a viable design for a health facility that can be relocated in response to natural disasters, outbreaks of disease or the need for education across Southeast Asia.
