RIBA reveals shortlist for new headquarters

The shortlist was announced today for the selection of an architect-led team to design RIBA’s new administrative centre at 76 Portland Place, London, W1. The new premises, just a couple of doors from the Institute’s Art Deco landmark building at 66 Portland Place, will be transformed to provide high-quality new office space that will be exemplary in its design, and environmental sustainability.

The six teams invited to proceed to the second stage of the selection process (in alphabetical order of the RIBA Chartered Practice leading the design team) are:

· Ben Adams Architects Ltd
· Moxon Architects
· Piercy & Company London Ltd
· shedkm Architects Ltd
· Spacelab
· Theis and Khan Architects Ltd

RIBA President Stephen Hodder said: “We are delighted with the volume of interest our 76 Portland Place project has generated. The quality of the 32 submissions and the range of practices who have expressed their interest in working on the project is very impressive. The field was so strong, the Selection Panel decided to increase the number of shortlisted teams, from five to six. We look forward to the teams’ presentations later this month.”

The shortlisted teams will be interviewed by the Selection Panel in late November 2013, outlining their initial thoughts about their approach and vision for the project.
