Russian International Olympic University now open

A new university designed to train sports managers drawing on Olympic knowledge and experience has opened this week in Sochi. The Russian International Olympic University took three years to construct and is located near the upper Primorskaya Embankment.

It will accommodate up to 500 students at any one time and has already welcomed 27 students from 14 countries. Combining lectures, seminars, business workshops and interactive classes, the Russian International Olympic University is directed largely at members of National Olympic Committees and employees of the sport industry. The project has been financed by private investment company Interros.

“Creating a University from zero was not an easy task, but we have accomplished it. RIOU has been providing education and training for over three years. Now we have a state-of-the-art campus, and its inauguration gives the start to our flagship programme - Master of Sport Administration (MSA).

"I am convinced that our University will become a globally recognised and authoritative centre for training specialists in sport management,” said RIOU chief executive Prof. Lev Belousov.
