Scottish Rite Masonic Temple to become private art museum for co-founding brothers of Guess? Inc.

A former meeting place for 10,000 Scottish Rite Masons in Los Angeles is to be transformed into a private art museum for the co-founders of clothing company Guess? Inc. The building was originally designed by Millard Sheets.

The two brothers behind the label have commissioned wHY Architecture - led by Kulapat Yantrasast - to create a 90,000 sq ft museum from the 4-storey complex by 2015 so that they may display their immense collection of artworks and open the museum to the public for periodic exhibitions.

“I have been struck by Millard Sheets’ design since I moved to LA and am excited to be part of bringing new life to this deserted structure. It is truly a dream project that bridges my passions and interests in art, architecture and fashion. This museum will surely change the game of art in Los Angeles,” states Yantrasast.
