During the 2013 Wood Summit Småland in southern Sweden in June, the results of the Architecture of Necessity competition will be announced. The competition asked entrants to compose designs for buildings or masterplans for Architecture of Necessity, i.e. architectural ideas that address sustainable issues and mark the threshold between nature and culture.
The event will be held at the Virserum Art Museum on 26-27 June as a two-day seminar addressing sustainability in design and wood architecture. During the summit, the winners of Architecture of Necessity 2013 will be announced. The jury of 2013 includes:
-Cleas Caldenby, professor of theory and history of architecture at Chalmers University of Technology
-Dr. Mohamed El-Sioufi, Doctor of architecture at United Nations Human Settlements Programme, Kenya
-Sadie Morgan, architect and founding director at dRMM, London, UK
-Andreas G. Gjertsen and Yashar Hanstad, architects and founding directors of TYIN Tegnestue, Trondheim, Norway
-Katarina Pelin, Environment director at City of Malmö, Sweden
