College of Architecture and Environmental Design competition won by WEISS/MANFREDI

WEISS/MANFREDI has won an international design competition for the new home of the College of Architecture and Environmental Design at Kent State University in Ohio, United States. The practice was selected from a list of more than 30 firms and will be collaborating with architect of record Richard L. Bowen Associates Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio.

The 125,000 sq ft volume, entitled Design Loft, is intended to stitch the university into the local community while acting as a beacon for the institution. Marion Weiss and Michael Manfredi commented: “We are captivated by the potential for this project to become an innovative incubator for the arts and an internationally legible destination for the University.”
