Swiss architect to work on major commercial venture in Vancouver with Iredale Group Architecture

Former partner at Herzog & de Meuron, Harry Gugger will be working in collaboration with Iredale Group Architecture on the design of The Exchange, a $200m commercial tower and renovation project in Vancouver’s financial district. The scheme will include the retention and restoration of the 1929 Old Stock Exchange building and the construction of a 30-storey LEED Platinum office tower. Credit Suisse are the developers for the project which received planning approval in November 2012.

Harry Gugger, Founder of Harry Gugger Studio, commented: “Working in Vancouver is a new and wonderful challenge for me and my team. The Old Stock Exchange building is a refined and handsomely crafted building. The new tower will not look to compete with this prominent original building, but rather to successfully work with it to provide a composition that at once looks to Vancouver’s future without obscuring its past.”
