Grimshaw Architects to stage first exhibition in Asia

Grimshaw Architects are to stage their first exhibition in Asia on the relationship between the natural environment and architecture later this month. Entitled Equation, the exhibition will be held in the Urban Redevelopment Authority in Singapore, Asia from 20 February to 15 March, and is the London-based firm’s sixth major exhibition of this kind.

Equation will explore ‘how the natural environment provides inspiration for innovative architectural projects around the world’ and how ‘these projects adopt bio-mimicry for greater efficiency’ with the exhibition including mixed-media content of sketches, drawings, photographs and videos of Grimshaw’s work.

Visitors will also be able to see Grimshaw’s projects in 3D, with 3D augmented reality models of the firm’s schemes being brought to life using smartphone and tablet technology. The exhibition comes as Grimshaw further expand their portfolio in Asia with the firm recently announcing details of a new biome-centred development scheme inspired by the Eden Project, in the north-east of Beijing, China.

Previous exhibitions by the firm have included Fusion in 1998, which explored the practice’s industrial design work and was shown in seven countries, and Equilibrium, which opened at the Design Museum, London in 2000.
