David Adjaye to speak at the Design Indaba Conference

David Adjaye has been announced as one of the main speakers at a 3-day design conference in Cape Town, South Africa. The Design Indaba Conference, which takes place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from February 27 to March 1, features forty speakers from the architecture, art and design world.

Principal architect of Adjaye Associates which was established in 2000, the London-based architect’s current projects include the €375m ($500m) scheme to redesign the Smithsonian National Museum of African American Culture and History in Washington D.C, USA.

He also holds the post of visiting professor at Princeton University School of Architecture, was awarded an OBE in 2007 for services to architecture and he won Design Miami’s Designer of the Year Award in 2011.

Other speakers at the conference include Ben Terrett, head of design at the Government Digital Service in the UK, Masashi Kawamura, founder of creative lab PARTY, and Steven Heller, the renowned art director and journalist.

Running since 1995, the Design Indaba Conference champions 'creativity that enhances every aspect of the world around us'. The Design Indaba Expo will also be held at the convention centre from 1 to 3 March and will showcase fashion, jewellery and crafts made by South African designers and artists.
