$1bn investment in floating liquefied natural gas terminal in Andhra by Royal Dutch Shell

The Indian arm of oil company Royal Dutch Shell is to invest in the construction of a floating liquefied natural gas terminal off the coast of Andhra in the Bay of Bengal. The Economic Times reported yesterday (12 February 2012) that the firm plans to invest $1bn in the project by 2014.

Shell is already in the process of constructing a floating terminal off the coast of Kakinada in a joint venture with Anil Ambani group firm Reliance Power Ltd in order to double the current capacity of its existing liquefied natural gas facility in Hazira, Gujarat.
