smdp LLC has established its global architecture and design practice in its new office located on the 18th floor of NBC Tower in Chicago. Founded by Scott Sarver, AIA, and Dae-Hong Minn, former principals of DeStefano Partners, and RATIO Architects, Inc., smdp provides design services in all areas of the built environment, including architecture, urban design and planning, landscape architecture, interior design, historic preservation and graphic design.

“Our experience around the world has provided us with unique insights about sustainable growth and the development of cities,” said Sarver, principal of smdp. “This will allow us to lend an expertise to the city of Chicago that goes beyond the designing of buildings. We are aware of the broader responsibilities that our work must meet in the communities in which we create. We look forward to bringing our knowledge to Chicago as we help to shape this city for the next generation.”

The firm formed a strategic partnership with RATIO Architects, Inc. in early 2012 that offers clients from both firms an expanded list of services, and allows both firms to pursue growth opportunities in the new global economy.
