The shortlist for the Lausanne Jardins 2014 competition has been decided with scores of landscape architecture and design firms making the cut. Last year, the Town Council of Lausanne, Switzerland and the ‘Jardin Urbain’ Association announced a competition to reinvent 25 areas of the 15th-century city with temporary landscape architecture schemes, integrating modern design into the historically beautiful city. An exhibition of submissions to the competition will go on public display in April 2013.
Making it through to the second stage of the competition is Balmori Associates who were shortlisted in 2011 for the WAN AWARDS Urban Design Sector with their Jardin: The Garden That Climbs The Stairs scheme in Bilbao, Spain. Diana Balmori, FASLA, Founder of Balmori Associates, commented: “We are very excited to participate in this project within the historic city of Lausanne. Temporary gardens offer a unique opportunity for experimentation that we really enjoy.”
