Manchester Civil Justice Centre Wins 25th Award

International award winning architects Denton Corker Marshall’s landmark Manchester Civil Justice Centre has been presented with two Civic Trust Awards, making a total of 25 awards won since it’s completion in 2007. The Civic Trust President Griff Rhys Jones presented the Civic Trust Award and the Special Award for Sustainability to UK Partner Stephen Quinlan in a ceremony at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium last week.

The Civil Justice Centre, a 15 storey court complex, was completed in July 2007 and is the largest court complex to be built in the UK since the Royal Courts of Justice in 1892.

The Civic Trust Awards originally attracted over 400 entrants, and the winners are projects that are recognised as culturally, socially or economically beneficial, and make an outstanding contribution to the quality and appearance of the environment. Each year, a series of prestigious Special Awards are awarded to outstanding schemes which show excellence in a specific category or field.
