No marriage for Gehry

Frank Gehry has fallen foul of the credit crunch, with one of his projects in Spain halted. The 143 m tall project is a collection of glass and steel towers named "the bride" for its huge solar panels in the form of bridal trains. The panels, depending on the sunlight give the impression of movement.

The building was to be built in the area of "La Sagra" near Barcelona, with construction as yet not begun. The public consortium carrying out the work have fallen 50% short of the projected €400 million costs although a council member stated that there are a further 4 companies interested in carrying the project through.
