JW Marriott Absheron Hotel completes in Azerbaijan

ReardonSmith Architects and Scape Design Associates’ JW Marriott Absheron Hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan has completed. The 23 storey hotel is located on the site of the former Absheron Hotel which was demolished to enable construction of the JW Marriott Absheron. The existing façade lines have been respected and a series of landscaped elements inserted with terraces and an urban garden beautifying the external area.

The brief for the building stated that all hotel rooms were to have views of the Caspian Sea and to appeal to the burgeoning wedding market in Azerbaijan. As such, a 1,200 sq m column-free ballroom has been inserted with flexibility to be split into smaller partitioned spaces for wedding parties. There are also a series of lobbies, pre-function areas, restaurants and bars. Private residences and services apartments are located on 16 floors.
