Submissions flood in for Flinders Street Station competition: Deadline 1 August 2012

A $1million competition run by Major Projects Victoria and the Victoria Coalition Government to design Flinders Street Station has been inundated with international interest, the organisers have announced. The project has been advertised on the WAN homepage for several weeks.

Australia is leading by a long way with 4,691 webpage views so far, followed by the United States with 601, the UK with 424, Spain (180), Germany (161), Italy (136), France (122), China (109), Canada (97) and Poland (95). The total number of entries has not been released.

Minister for Major Projects, Denis Napthine, said: “Between the opening of registrations on 29 June and 17 July, the Flinders Street Station Design Competition webpage has had more than 31,000 page views. The competition Design Brief has been downloaded nearly 3,000 times and more than 1,300 people have downloaded the registration form.”

Registrations close at 2pm (AEST) on Wednesday 1 August with Stage 1 submissions due by Thursday 20 September 2012. More details can be found here.
