Walkers taking part in this year’s Maggie's London Night Hike will have the opportunity to explore some of the capital’s most iconic buildings. For the first time walkers get exclusive access to both the EDF Energy London Eye and for the first time to the Roca London Gallery designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. The nocturnal charity event takes place on Friday, September 21st 2012 beginning at 7:30pm, and is in partnership with House London.
Now in its eighth year the 10 or 20-mile night time walk through London is well established in the capital’s fundraising calendar. Other buildings confirmed include the Sterling Prize-winning Maggie’s West London centre, City Hall, Leadenhall Market, Royal Institute of British Architects, Royal Geographical Society, and 20 Gresham Street with more to be confirmed.
Last year’s walkers raised more than £500,000 – enough to run a Maggie’s centre for a whole year and organisers are keen to beat this target this year. Maggie’s Centres provides free practical, emotional and psychological support to anyone affected by any type of cancer including friends and carers. London Night Hike patron actress Hermione Norris said: “It’s a great event for a great cause so please do sign up by visiting www.maggiescentres.org/nighthike”
