At this year’s La Biennale di Venezia - open 29 August through 25 November 2012 - visitors will be offered two exhibitions of Nordic architecture from up and coming designers. New Forms in Wood will celebrate young Finnish architects who have incorporated wood products into their work in innovative ways.
Held in the freshly restored Pavilion of Finland by Alvar Aalto, the display will showcase the designs of ALA Architects, Avanto Architects, Eero Lunden & Markus Wikar, K2S Architects, Laasila Hirvilammi Architects, and Pyry-Pekka Kantonen.
Also on offer will be Light-Houses: On the Nordic Common Ground, a celebration of the jubilee of the Nordic Pavilion which was completed 50 years ago under the design of Sverre Fehn. In recognition of this impressive design, 33 guiding lights of Nordic architecture (11 each from Finland, Sweden and Norway) have been invited to present models of a conceptual house which ‘reflects their personal philosophy of architecture’.
